Jessica | New Jersey Boudoir Photographer Natalie Licini

From the moment Jessica walked in, I knew this photo shoot was going to be something different.  She was gorgeous, edgy, playful and brought a metal shirt.  I mean, anyone who brings a metal shirt is going to become my new BEST friend.

Women often plan intimate photo shoots as a gift for a loved one or to celebrate a milestone. But not Jessica, she did this for herself.  For no particular reason.  This entire photo shoot was spectacular.  It was one of those moments, I could have photographed until the sun set.  This is one of my favorite portraits of Jessica taken on this chilly Autumn day.

As a New Jersey Boudoir Photographer, every year I attend a huge international photography competition.  I created a fine art album of Jessica’s photo shoot (with her permission of course).  I’m grateful to announce this album won an award.  Here’s a preview of the digital album uncensored.  I can’t wait for Jessica to receive her copy as well.

Dudeoir Photography | Natalie Licini

You may have heard the newest trend in photography is dudeoir.  Yes, ‘dudeoir’ which is a play on the word boudoir, but focusing on men portraits instead of women.

At our castle studio, located in central New Jersey, our clients call us to book sessions for themselves or loved ones.

In case you missed our segment on CBS featuring dudeoir photography, here’s the full segment.

We were excited to include a few of our favorite clients from years past and a few new ones for this special segment.

Marisol Saber came in for her session over 2 years ago.  She wanted very elegant and timeless portraits for her husband.  Not only did she become one of my favorite clients, but she later gifted HIM with a dudeoir photography session to celebrate his 50th birthday.  YES – this is apparently what 50 looks like.  His photo shoot was so much fun.   And if you know Kamil, you just LOVE him.  I’m so grateful they both came to Je Revele.

One of our clients Austin surprised his girlfriend of 2 years with very classic portraits in hopes that she may do the same for him someday.  Hint hint!

He definitely has an all american look.  Very handsome.

These two love birds are in Cancun celebrating life and Valentine’s Day together.  I can’t wait to hear what she thinks when they return.

Dudeoir Photos | A Great Valentine’s Day Gift

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, our clients are surprising loved ones with a special gift – dudeoir photos.

What is Dudeoir?

3 years ago boudoir photography was the biggest trend and it is still hugely popular!  In the last year and a half, dudeoir photography has skyrocketed.  Dudeoir photography is a play on the word boudoir, but focusing on men portraits instead of women.

My goal when we launched dudeoir photos the summer of 2013 was to showcase the beauty of a man in a style that was simplistic in nature, often edited in black and white, showcasing the male form in a way that it was perceived as art or a sculpture.  I was introduced to a book by Herb Ritts from my talented friend Chuck, which showcased profound images of men.   This was my initial inspiration when I launched this genre of photography.

How to prepare for a dudeoir shoot:

I love a little 5 o’clock shadow for the first half the shoot. A little bit of an edgy look on some men.  For wardrobe, men bring a 3 piece suit, classic button down shirts, jeans.  A leather or jean jacket, watches and sunglasses.  Sometimes, men bring fitted underwear and fitted t-shirts, it depends on the look – every session is personalized.

Pietro’s Fight | Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Pietro’s Fight | Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Look at this handsome boy.  This is Pietro Scarso, just 2.5 years old.

Pietro's Fight

What a bright light.  I mean just look at this FACE.  You are probably smiling back at this child, right?   His adorable brother Nico is beside him.  They’re 15 months apart.

These boys are inseparable.

pietros fight

Pietro is a loving, sweet boy.  He absolutely loves legos.  I mean he

LOVES   –   ALL    –    things   –   lego and…    he loves life!

  • He loves Lego World
  • His favorite movie is Lego Movie.
  • He considers himself a master builder.
  • He’s calm and he’s patient
  • He loves to EAT
  • and dance!  They have a nightly dance off after dinner! AKA his dance room

pietros fight

I loved photographing them for their Christmas photos over the years.  Its always so much fun to watch children play together.  Boys seem to explore the world inch by inch.

He was born on May 14th, the same day as my son Luc.  I joke my son is the best of our 3 kids.  haha

Pietro is now 5 1/2 years old.  He’s a kind and gentle soul.  Dayna’s favorite memory of her son as a child is watching him in his highchair. He would just watch tv and grab whatever food was on his plate.

And eat…    and EAT and eat!

He wouldn’t even look at the food, just eat whatever was in his hand.

But today, Pietro faces a lot of challenges.  He has trouble going up and down stairs.  He can’t play with children or ruff house.  He can’t exert himself like most boys could.  In the Summer of 2012 they found out Pietro had a rare disease.

—- JULY 2012 —-

My friend & client Dayna found out Pietro had a rare lethal disease just 8 months after I met them.  She started a foundation called Pietro’s Fight Pietrosfight.org when her son was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD children are confined to a wheelchair by the time they are 12 years of age, and succumb to the disease in their late teens due to respiratory complications. To date, there is no acceptable treatment or cure for DMD.

Like every parent, Dayna and her husband prayed for a healthy baby, and worried about the usual diseases and disabilities. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affects one out of 3,500 boys each year worldwide, but they had never heard of it.

They noticed Pietro was having difficulty on the stairs and made an appointment with a pediatric neurologist just 2 years ago. Hearing the doctor say that Pietro had DMD they looked at her as their eyes filled with tears.

Pietro will face many challenges in the next 5+ years. The progression of the disease is that children with DMD cannot produce dystrophin, a protein necessary for muscle strength and function. As a result, every skeletal muscle in the body deteriorates. Although Duchenne is the most common fatal genetic disorder to affect children, there is NO cure. The simplest of tasks become difficult, and in the later stages, heart and breathing muscles begin to fail.

Nearly 20,000 boys are living with the disease in the United States alone, and over 300,000 worldwide.

One of Dayna’s goals at Pietrosfight.org is to urge the FDA to approve a drug that has been in clinical trial in boys for the last 3 years called Eteplirsen.  This drug is shown to slow down the progression of the disease and has defied the natural history of DMD.  Twelve boys currently in the trial are now in their teens and in most cases should have been in wheelchairs, but are NOT.  Instead, they’re walkingplaying sports, and doing things that shouldn’t be possible for a DMD boy.  Sarepta’s timeline has been delayed for a Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy drug as the FDA is now requiring additional data as part of the submission. We are asking the FDA to enact Fdasia which was put in place by the FDA and Congress for fatal diseases with no cure.  The drug has been tested for 3 years and is only showing positive results. Instead of the application being submitted by the end of 2014 this means it is now being pushed back to mid 2015.

“When did we lose our right as parents to know what’s good and bad for our children. Why can’t we decide our child’s well-being. This trial is the hope we see for Pietro’s future, if data is showing it safe and effective, what’s the problem FDA?” Dayna Scarso, Pietro’s mom.

Here are few of my favorite photos of these handsome brothers.  PLEASE consider donating today HERE: http://www.pietrosfight.org/donate/

Awards for Staten Island Top Women in Business | Natalie Licini

Awards for Staten Island Top Women in Business | Natalie Licini

I have to admit when Lori called to tell me that I had been nominated as one of the Top 40 Women in Business in Staten Island I was speechless.

And when I walked into the reception last night, I was completely overwhelmed sitting beside other awardees including the executive director of Staten Island University Hospital, NY State assembly member, the founder of Hospice Care, A Friendly Face, the Seton Foundation and many of Staten Island’s most respected businesses including the owners of Nicotra’s Ballroom, Party Party Party, Safari Realty, AF Bennett Salon, & Casandra Properties & many more.

In 2010 I was introduced to someone who became very near and dear to my heart.  Camille Loccisano.

Camille lost her son Frankie at the young age of 17.   Camille’s foundation Frankie’s Mission in memory of Frankie helps families whose children are suffering from pediatric cancer.  All the proceeds raised go directly to the children and their families.  In 2011 they helped 40 individual families.

I want to share Frankie’s story with you in hope that you support their foundation and the upcoming fundraisers.  PLEASE help support Frankie’s Mission today by donating online: http://www.frankiesmission.org/support-us/make-a-donation-online/

About Frankie:

This  September of 2014 marked seven years that Frankie Loccisano lost his life to cancer.

Frankie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest of three brothers. A leader from an early age, he enjoyed popularity among his many friends and he loved to play sports.  A very bright student, he attended Xaverian High School where he studied in their prestigious IB Honors Program with a goal toward attending Princeton University.

A lover of the political arena and a talented creative writer, Frankie was an avid novel reader and he enjoyed the fine works of great authors. The NY Yankees and NY Giants were his teams. He loved Robert Deniro films, online role-play and Friday night card games with his buddies. He enjoyed a good and fair political debate, and he was an extremely articulate speaker. Studying law and practicing as a public prosecutor was a very serious goal for him. He also had thoughts of entering into a political career in his later years. He was a tremendous advocate of civil rights and human dignity. His political views were moderate and his oft repeated words were “Depends on the issue!”

At the age of 14, Frankie was diagnosed with bone cancer and then leukemia,  he endured extremely invasive treatments, countless surgeries, and  constant procedures during a span of 27 months. Through it all, Frankie demonstrated an unmatched courage and an indomitable and prayerful spirit.  As an older pediatric patient, he greatly understood the enormity of what it meant to be so young and fighting for life instead of enjoying life. It is in this spirit and in Frankie’s memory that his foundation carries out its important mission. So important was this mission to Frankie, that they were among the last words he communicated to his family and friends.

Now, in his name and memory, we will raise funds and awareness to help families and children who are fighting the same illness. Join us and help to make a real and true difference!
